Shirodhara is a well-established procedure for centuries. With the help of Shirodhara equipment warm oil or medicated liquid is dripped on the head only in the morning. It develops a soothing effect in the brain through nerves by pouring liquid on the head.

Uses: Shirodhara is poured for 30 to 60 minutes for a minimum of 7 days. It is very useful in treating hair fall, greying of hair, hypertension, tension, anxiety, stress, depression, irritability, headache, paralysis, loss of sleep, tinnitus, memory loss, improper vision.

Purpose:

  • Thoroughly oiling the body, by way of Abhyanga, loosens deep-seated metabolic waste materials, and brings elasticity to the body tissues. It then moves these waste materials to the gastrointestinal (GI) tract for removal.

Treatment:
A typical Shirodhara session would last 30 to 60 minutes and is done for 3, 7, 14, or 28 days. The duration of a session may vary. The Ayurvedic practitioner determines both the duration and the number of days according to the patient's age, constitution, and dosha status and the severity of the disease.

Procedure:

  • Shirodhara is a form of Ayurvedic snehana procedure, wherein involves gently pouring liquids over the forehead. This procedure can be poor karma (preoperative procedure) to main panchakarma or pradhan karma (Main procedure) depending upon the condition of the patient.
